Geoff has acquired over 20 years of experience working in the legal system. Throughout his career, he has served as a strong legal asset to the court in various roles.

Geoff earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Xavier University in 1990 and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 1999. He has imparted his expertise both in the court and community as he formerly served as a Prosecutor for the New Orleans Municipal and Administrative Hearing Officer for the City of New Orleans.

Believes in service and Fighting for Youth & Families.

Geoff recognizes the importance of supporting youth and families to build stronger communities. He will ensure his decisions in the court regarding families are fair, just, and restorative.

Geoff believes the citizens of New Orleans deserve a just and fair legal system. He has spent much of his personal life and professional career better understanding and serving the needs of the citizens of New Orleans.

GEOFF’S STORY

Geoffrey L. Gates was born in New Orleans, LA. He is a proud “Girl Dad” of Addison Gates. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Xavier University in 1990 and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 1999. Geoffrey served as a Judicial Law Clerk for First City Court of New Orleans from 2000-2003 and Assistant District Attorney in the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office from 2004-2008. He currently serves as a Prosecutor for the New Orleans Municipal and Administrative Hearing Office for the City of New Orleans. With over 20 years of experience working in the court, Geoffrey has spent much of his personal life and professional career better grasping the needs of the citizens of New Orleans. Geoffrey’s legal and public service experience has given him a wealth of knowledge to judge with Fairness, Experience, and Temperament to serve ALL PEOPLE.
